Maya has had a passion for fashion design and knitting since her childhood. Both of her grandmothers and mother were skilled knitters and they have passed their knowledge on to her. This great gift has become Maya's lifetime passion and full-time job. Having Diplomas in Management and Marketing from Seneca College in addition to the Bachelor Degree in Arts and Science helped her build a successful career in Canadian fashion retail.
Maya's designs are generally inspired by European and urban cultures, traditions, nature and music. The love of knitting makes her continue to seek out new approaches, techniques and designs. By letting the creative side guide her path and explore new venues and various types of fibres, Maya keeps designing and making original and beautiful pieces from Cast - on to Cast - off. Maya's priority is to use high-quality yarns made from natural ingredients such as wool and wool blends, mohair, cashmere and others. She also uses natural wood as well as custom ceramics to provide accents and accessories to garments. All items are designed and manufactured with pride in the pet and smoke-free studio. Maya uses various techniques for product manufacturing such as hand-knitting, crochet, machine knitting with hand manipulation. All of Maya's products are individually made by her from early stages of design to finish and accessories.
Customer satisfaction and appreciation is the ultimate reward for May's hard work and the main driver for her inspiration. Customer's compliments are what keeps her going and creating new designs.
